Miroirs is the debut album from the young French-Danish soprano Elsa Dreisig. The winner of Plácido Domingo’s Operalia singing competition in 2016, she has performed opera in Berlin, Paris, Zürich and Aix-en-Provence and sung with Sir Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic in Berlin, Salzburg, Lucerne and Paris.
On this album, Dreisig conjures mirror images of four operatic heroines – two composers, two views of roles including Salome, Juliette, Manon and Rosina – and two beauties, Marguerite and Thaïs, who were captivated by the looking glass. As Elsa explains: “These reflected roles are there to inspire, confront and feed off each other...to open our eyes to multiple visions of the same woman.”
The album includes two world premiere recordings.
